Indore: Union Minister Piyush Goyal, on Monday, refuted the matter of any kind of tension in the government and the Reserve Bank of India (RBI). At the same time, he also said that there is nothing objectionable to discuss the central bank's responsibilities with the members of the board of directors of the RBI regarding the country.
Goyal said on a media question, "We are not showing any tension in the government and the RBI," said Goyal, during an important meeting of RBI Board on Monday. This tension is only visible to Congress President Rahul Gandhi and you (media). He said, the government has already clarified that it has not asked for a rupee from RBI's reserve fund. Goyal, however, said that as an important national institution the RBI has some responsibilities towards the country. If the central bank's board of directors discusses these responsibilities in national interest, then no person should have any objection to this.
Union minister dismissed the Congress president's allegation that the Narendra Modi government is trying to ruin the RBI. Goyal reverted and said, the previous governments of Congress have insulted every constitutional institution of the country. Everyone knows how these governments have exposed the RBI governors from the central bank in the last few years. The Union Minister said, the meeting of the Board of Directors of the RBI is going on from time to time. Why is Rahul so troubled in this? Perhaps Rahul has little information about corporate governance.
Goyal also has the Ministry of Coal with the Ministry of Railways. For some time before that, he has also seen the functioning of the Finance Ministry. Railway Minister, who came to Madhya Pradesh on the election tour, said that during the tenure of the current NDA government, allocation of Rs. 21,000 crore has been given to the state on behalf of the Railways. This amount is six times more than the estimated Rs 3,200 crore allocated between the year 2009 to 2014 in the state of the previous UPA government.
